Pastel on colored paper

Pastels always look strange on cheap flatbed scanners, the paper its one received with De Agostini picture set nr.2 :

    I always photograph my pictures, since I do not have a scanner (yet). I am quite content with this method, though nothing substitutes natural light and sight.

    @Alexander Yes, the photo of pastels or watercolours look always better. The bright light of the scanner make those look unreal. But I have just the scanner.
